The Shen Yun Performing Arts company is coming to major venues around the globe
this winter with never-before-seen artistry showcasing the performance arts of China in its purest form. The company, based in New York, has been touring around the globe for nearly twenty years, wowing audiences everywhere with their display of excellence. With a cast of 40 male and female performers, Shen Yun Performing Arts takes great pride in being “a presentation of traditional Chinese culture as it once was: a study in grace, wisdom, and virtues distilled from five millennia of Chinese civilization.”
It’s everything one could possibly want in an evening at the theatre: heartfelt expression, ethnic flavour, breathtaking movement and postures, and incredible physical skill; an astounding orchestra comprising something traditional and something exotic, from strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion to the suona, pipa, dizi, erhu, and guzheng; intricate costumes imitating various ethnicities, a wide range of props - from silk scarves to fans, and sometimes even characters from the most iconic Chinese legends such as Journey to the West; and colourful digital backdrops depicting landscapes.
