Shen Yun Performing Arts at Kennedy Center Opera House

Shen Yun — the globe's leading music and dance company — has announced this year’s schedule of performances across many of North America’s most distinguished venues, including the Kennedy Center Opera House on Friday 9th January 2026!

Prior to the era of Communism, 5000 YEARS of culture, legends, and arts prospered in each curve of mainland China, and year after year, the New York City-based Shen Yun revives these perennial treasures for everyone to cherish! This year will be the same.

Divine beings treading across the land. Vast grasslands swept by nomadic hordes of Mongols. And battleground heroism of dauntless warriors. Shen Yun’s yearly exhibitions revolve around the innumerable myths and sagas that spanned China’s regimes, creatively portraying their tragedies and romances with aspects from Taoist and Buddhist creeds to polish each story.

The approaching presentation will exhibit 20 narrative sections of ethereal performances in roughly 2 hours. Professionally trained dancers trimmed in strikingly decorated costumes will glide to the floor, recounting the show’s stories with 17 to 18 elaborate folk dance pieces. Additionally, 2 or 3 instrumental and vocal solos will accentuate these episodes with exhilarating melodies — both original and traditional.

An accompanying band will play rousing music throughout the event, seamlessly uniting Western and Chinese instruments. In terms of stagecraft, Shen Yun makes use of a cutting-edge digital backdrop to project immersive scenes, drawing viewers into the expanse of China before Communism in a jaw-dropping fashion.

For the trip's pit stop in District Of Columbia's city of Washington, the world-class Kennedy Center Opera House will open as host. Its gorgeous stage, favored by many of the past century's biggest acts, will present the foundation for the epic show, further elevating it with stellar sights, pristine lighting, and finely tuned sound systems.
