Focused on its main title character, an escaped parolee, Jean Valjean, a police detective, Javert, and a young girl, Cosette. The events in the story take place during a period of unrest in France, between 1815 and 1830. This undoubtedly powerful global musical, Les Misérables, is on tour in Washington and performing in Kennedy Center Opera House on Sunday 22nd June. Jean Valjean, and the people he encounters along the way, has been performed in over 53 different countries to encouraging reviews from both average viewers and critics. The musical is also one of the few shows that has been staged in 22 different languages, expanding both the show's fame and its accessibility to local theatergoers. LES MISÉRABLES PERFORMANCE AT KENNEDY CENTER OPERA HOUSE IN DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
The epic musical, Les Misérables, will be performed on Sunday, 22nd June at the celebrated Kennedy Center Opera House in the District of Columbia. Les Misérables revolves around the story of Jean Valjean, an ex-convict desperately wanting to start anew after his escape from parole. Valjean's full journey, and the relationships he builds along the way, are performed sung-through entirely, from the beginning to the end of this incredible show. The musical, being lyricized from beginning to end, has a unique characteristic, in that the play has over other known West End plays, and the main reason why, is that every moment and every act, doesn’t miss a beat, in depicting each character's personal struggle in every sentence or sung lyric. The outcome of this unique characteristic, is that the play is also overflowing with memorable sung numbers. Interestingly, even with the collection of numbers in the performance, each cast member on stage, has been highlighted, and each discrete number has been given its own emotional depth. Very few theater goers ever forget Fantine’s “I Dreamed A Dream”, or the resounding thumping Barricade scene. “Bring Him Home” also passionately moves viewers to tears every performance, subtly showing us the redemption of the main character, in only one absolutely amazing song.
