Parade The Musical

Leo Frank’s tale needs little introduction: It is 1913, and a young Jewish American couple is faced with many hardships when the husband, Leo Frank, is wrongfully convicted for the murder of a 13-year old factory worker.

As a result of a flawed trial fuelled by discord, prejudice, mob mentality, and corruption, Leo Frank is detained, and eventually lynched. This unfortunate true event shaped the establishment of Anti-Defamation League, a Jewish civil rights organization, and on the opposite end, the Ku Klux Klan.

Even though the tale is eerily timeless, horrific, and gut-punching, ‘Parade’ is a testament of true art, exploring complex human emotions while being filled with hope, and is guaranteed to leave you contemplating it long after the curtain falls.

Not only does it shed light on the ills of society, but also reminds of the power of art to confront, illuminate, and reflect. It’s been over a century since Leo Frank’s trial, and still audience members are moved and changed by the poignancy of this tale.

Awards and recognition

At the hands and from the minds of composer Jason Robert Brown, writer Alfred Uhry, and director Michael Arden, a wonderfully memorable theatrical experience was created. The critics and audiences that have experienced ‘Parade’, are all.

If you were still wondering whether it would be worth it, let the tremendous amounts of accolades do the talking. To date ‘Parade’ has racked up no less than four Tony Awards, seven Drama Desk Awards, two Outer Critics Circle Awards, among plenty of nominations.
